4.0 out of 5 stars very cute watch, March 1, 2010

I chose this watch because of its unique look and have received compliments on it. It really has a clean, fresh appearance and is comfortable to wear. I wear a watch daily and often the screen will become scratched. This has not been a problem. The screen and entire watch continue to look like new after a month of constant wear. The only thing I do not like about this watch is that the mode button seems to be easy to bump and frequently I find myself looking at the alarm time or the dual time. If you aren't paying attention, this can be a problem. Initially this was all a little confusing but now that I am aware of the issue I try to keep the dual time set the same as my local time and I glance at the top of the display for the current date and know I have the right time. Overall, I definitely would recommend this watch.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter - she loves it. It's a very playful, modern looking watch - I'd even wear it (if she let me)! It's held up perfectly - the white stays white too.

I'm really happy with this watch. It looks great and I've had a lot of people ask me where to get one. I have the white one, and it has pretty much stayed the bright white color it was right out of the box. The only part that seems to get dirty is the rubber clasp that holds the watch band in place. The watch is easy to use and very comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mine just died, January 27, 2005

After about seven years of great service, my wrist now bears a dead AMW320D (great name, eh, really trips off the tongue). I went in for my third battery replacement and the jeweler told me that corrosion had eaten away at the movement. The first time I replaced the battery I learned that the seal had to be broken and the watch might no longer resist water. The soft rubbery plastic strap died long ago, replaced by a superior twist-o-flex-style metal wrist band.

Now you might think I'm dissatisfied. But I intend to order another the minute (or so -- I don't have a working watch) I finish writing this review. Why? It has been a great watch. Analog plus digital gives me easy-to-read intuitive time checking, along with all the bells and whistles of silicon: multiple times, alarm, stop watch, and calendar. The outer ring on the face lets me rotate the "north" arrow to a future time, say 45 minutes from now, and I know time's up when the minute hand gets there. (I have... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of both watch worlds, December 24, 2004
By
This Marine Gear has become one of my favorite watches of all time. And take this from an enthousiastic collector who's tried out quite a few watches. If you're like me, you might like to alternate at times between analog and digital watches. I find myself using an analog watch about 60% of the time because they look great and it's easy to see how much time you've got left. On the other hand, digitals get about 40% of my wrist time, especially when I'm in a casual, sport, or technical mode.

Well, here's a watch that's the best of both worlds. With this Marine Gear, Casio has a real classic "diver" watch both in form and function.

In function, this watch has all the classical functions I like in in the digital line-up: stopwatch, alarm, hourly beep, and date. The digital time and dual time has come in handy, especially travelling. In fact, with the analog hands, you can have three time zones on your watch at once. Also, it is easy to synchronize the... 5.0 out of 5 stars Men's Casio Divers Watch, October 11, 2005
This is my third purchase of this same watch in the past ten years. I am very hard on watches and beat the heck out of them. I keep forgetting to remove them when working on Airplanes and auto engines etc. I dropped one and the second hand fell off which jammed the works. The other two still work but look like heck. Bands are lousey and break in short order so get a new band to replace it and keep it handy. Price from Target was $20 cheaper than Wally world and that included shipping. Some complain of not getting a good seal when replacing the battery and that will allow moisture into the watch and fog up the crystal. If you are VERY carefull and use the tinniest bit of vasoline to hold the O-ring in place when reinstalling the back it will seal just fine. Also, don't open it up on a wet and humid day.

Casio Men's PAG80-1V Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch for $124.99

Customer Rating :
Rating: 4.1

List Price : $250.00 Price : $124.99
Casio Men's PAG80-1V Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch

Amazon.com Product Description

Set a course for adventure every day you wear this solar-powered Casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model PAG80-1V), which includes a built-in digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. This extra-large, round watch features large function buttons that are easily accessible even when wearing gloves. Both the case and strap are made from durable resin. The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data. The altimeter measures up to 32,800 feet (10,000 meters) in 20-foot (5-meter) increments, and it can store 50 sets of altitude memory with date and temperature. It also provides a target altitude alarm and graphing capability for target and altitude tendency.

Because it's solar-powered--charging in either sunlight or indoor light--you'll never have to deal with changing the battery. Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal and dial, and hits a solar cell beneath the dial. Current is created and stored in the battery. The duplex LCD provides two liquid crystal panels, enabling you to select from among different display patterns.

It offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 60-minute measuring capacity and elapsed time, split time, and 1st/2nd place time modes. It also includes a yacht timer, which is used to time the start of regattas. The countdown period can be set from 1 to 10 minutes. An acoustic signal is emitted after each minute has elapsed and then once a second for the last ten seconds. Other timekeeping functions include a daily alarm, optional hourly time signal, and 12/24-hour formats. Other features include a comfortable resin strap, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, AfterGlow LED electro-luminescent backlight, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).

  • Quartz movement
  • Countdown timer, 1/100 Sec. stopwatch, five alarms, countdown timer
  • World Time, Digital Compass, Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer
  • Auto EL backlight, Low Temperature resistant
  • Water-resistant to 330 feet (100 M)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Great Watch - Recommend to anyone, May 16, 2008

This review is from: Casio Men's PAG80-1V Pathfinder Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Solar Digital Watch (Watch)
With this watch you can't go wrong. First, even though one variation will sync with the Atomic clock for about $40-50$ more, don't waste your money. This watch stays within just a second or two per month accuracy. In addition to keeping time, the capabiity to select a world zone by a city and then use that dual clock is as simple as it gets.

As usual, Casio makes a watch that does not take a genuis to learn to use - even without reading the manual. Determining how to use the Altimeter, Barometer, and electronic compass is virtually self-explanatory. You do need to know that you have to manually synchronize the altimeter in order to ensure your readings are correct during a given time period. The only way to prevent this is to have a watch that could triangulate its altitude from satelites and to my knowledge, that dog hasn't been born. However, that being said, the importance lies in the fact that you have a tracking graph that indicates a 24 hour history of changes in both... Read more

This is a really well-engineered watch with many features that are far superior to my previous-generation altimeter watch. But I bought it heading into an upstate New York winter and that is presenting a problem since the watch is inside my sleeve and not exposed to light as required for solar charging. As a result I'm finding I have to wear the watch one day, then leave it in a window all the next day to get an adequate charge for operating. Too much of a tradeoff for the cool feature of solar charging, so I'd recommend you buy the same watch in the battery-operated model.

UPDATE: according to the manual (p. E-87), "in order to generate enough power for normal daily operations" the watch needs to be exposed to 5 minutes a day of outdoor sunlight or 21 minutes a day of sunlight through a window. So now I just leave it on a windowsill till I'm ready to wear it. And next summer when I go backpacking I'll strap it on the top of my pack (something that's advisable anyway for... Read more

This is the third Pathfinder I have owned - All three have been great watches, with one minor exception and hopefully this watch will change that -
This watch is a SOLAR watch which IS NOT supposed to require battery replacement - If that is true, then all should be good - Because, on the replacement of batteries, you can't do it yourself - You can try, but very doubtful if you will get the watch to function normally again -

One last thing on Pathfinder watches - Take them off when in the shower, the soap buildup from after a few years will jam up the mechanisms for the different functions of the watch -
